Several newspapers have received reports from classified advertising customers that an unknown party is calling them with false information about their accounts being overdue.
The caller, posing as a newspaper employee, demands credit card information.
The Argus Observer is unaware of such incidents with customer but wishes to alert the public.
Established advertisers have accounts that are billed. Private parties placing classified ads have to pay in advance of publication.
