Ontario — The Ontario Police Department is currently investigating a drive-by shooting of a house on the 100 block of Northwest Second Avenue at 12:15 this morning.
There were 10 potential victims in the home, ranging from 3 months old to 25 years old. A vehicle was also hit during the shooting. Although no one was injured, the occupants are still considered victims because the residence was hit by the three rounds shot at the building, Ontario Police Department Capt. Mark Alexander.
The suspect’s vehicle, a green 2003 Nissan Ultima, fled the scene but was soon apprehended by Oregon State Police on Highway 201.
The cars’ four occupants were taken into custody.
Mark Gallegos, 17, Ontario, was identified as the shooter. The weapon used in the shooting, a 22 caliber rifle, was found discarded in the 800 block of North Oregon Street.
Gallegos, who may be tried as an adult, is charged with attempted murder, attempted assault in the first degree, unlawful use of a weapon, criminal mischief in the first degree, recklessly endangering another person and menacing.
Alexander said Gallegos will face multiple counts of these charges for each victim that was in or near the residence at the time.
Carlos Solis, 18, Ontario, was the driver of the vehicle and will be charged with conspiracy to commit the same crimes.
A third passenger, Grant Kenton, 23, Ontario, was also arrested for having four contempt of court warrants. A fourth passenger, Rafael Delatorre, 21, Ontario, also has Malheur County warrants for his arrest for contempt of court, and he was taken into custody. All were lodged in Malheur County Jail.
“They should be getting arraigned today,” Alexander said.
