HOMEDALE - The New Plymouth softball team lost 3-0 during a rain-shortened game Friday at Homedale. The Lady Pilgrims could not get into scoring mode and struggled from the plate with only four hits and six strike outs.
New Plymouth’s Alisha Shipman went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Shianne Edmunson and Anna Pittman both had one hit in three tries.
Pitching for the Lady Pilgrims was Whitney Hodges who gave up three runs on four hits while striking out three and walking one.
The Pilgrims commited two errors on defense, and left seven runners stranded on the bases.
“We were just a hit or two from winning this game. We are leaving too many runners in scoring position,” Pilgrim softball coach Troy Knapp said.
New Plymouth will be back on the diamond Thursday at Payette.
