Oregon man pleads guilty in killing
PORTLAND (AP) — A second member of a Portland ‘‘street family’’ has admitted guilt in the death of 23-year-old Eric Gottschalk.
Nicholas A. Thompson, 27, the family’s so-called enforcer, pleaded guilty to murder Thursday and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Thompson, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, will begin his sentence at the Oregon State Hospital. He will be shifted to the state prison system when he’s deemed ready or at the end of 20 years.
Raymundo Angel Dominguez, 35, was sentenced last December to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping, assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated murder. Prosecutors said Gottschalk was at the bottom of the family’s pecking order and signed a contract giving its members permission to beat him if he didn’t follow orders. |
