Payette police make arrests in two cases

PAYETTE — The Payette Police Department made a pair of separate arrests involving two cases under investigation since last week.

Police arrested Larry Brown, 22, Payette, Nov. 22 in connection with a burglary at Youngbergs Heating & Cooling reported Nov. 24, Payette Police Chief Mark Clark said. Clark said $5,000 in computer equipment and electronics, as well as an undisclosed amount of money was seized during the heating and cooling business heist. Brown was charged with felony burglary and lodged in the Payette County Jail, Clark said.

Clark said police did recover some of the equipment stolen — two complete computer sets — and hope to recover more.

“We’re still investigating, and we anticipate other arrests,” he said.

He said Brown was arrested after police received information from confidential informants.

“And then we were able to also tie him to the burglary with some physical evidence obtained at the scene,” Clark said.

Police also arrested David Olivo, 20, Weiser, and charged him with felony eluding in connection with a high speed chase Nov. 23. The pursuit began when an police officer noticed a driver of a car acting suspiciously in residential areas near downtown at about 2:30 a.m. While the driver of the vehicle was not found, after officers lost track of the car near Vista HIlls in Payette, the car was found abandoned later and reported stolen Nov. 24 by Olivo in Washington County. Clark said, based on information police received, investigators suspected Olivo was driving the car at the time of the chase and later reported the car stolen.

“He was taken into custody on Friday when he came to claim his car,” Clark said. Clark said PPD is also seeking charges of filing a false police report against Olivo from Washington County.

" I just want to give MAJOR kudos to Chief Clark and the Payette PD for their quick response and fierce determination to catch those to broke into our place of business! We are lucky to have such a great police force in our community! "
