Bulldog boys win 3A/2A/1A cross country title

Eugene —Nyssa boys cross country team went in with a goal to place first in state for the 2009 3A/2A/1A meet, and they fulfilled that goal.
“The boys team placed second last year and their goal this year was to place first they really focused and ran hard,” coach Tom DeLong said.
Senior, Brian Nelson was sick for most of the season proved that he could run well by placing fifth with a time of 16:58. Sophomore, Ryan Maag placed sixth with a time of 17:01. Junior, Gabriel Ramirez placed 12th with a time of 17:24. Junior, Jaimie Venegas placed 20th with a time of 17:42. Junior Tyler Wentz placed 23rd with a time of 17:49. Sophomore, Joshua Anderson placed 76th with a time of 19:08. Freshman, Greg Barlow placed 79th with a time of 19:16. They competed against Union, Southwest Christian and Cascade Christian.
Nyssa girls cross country team also did well placing seventh.
“Girls team ran very well, it was a very good performance,” DeLong said.
Senior Markie Hartley placed 35th with a time of 22:06. Senior, Nadine Ynigez finished 39th with a time of 22:13. Freshman, Allie Hartley took 51st with a time of 22:34. Freshman, Kelsey Wilcox came in 64th with a time of 23:09. Senior, Amanda Bityinger placed 84th with a time of 24:05. Senior, Kimberly Pett finished 90th with a time of 24:24. Senior, Breona Bittinger placed 93rd with a time of 24:29.
